Imagine if all the money wasted on the so-called "Health Care System" in the US were, instead to be spent in raising organic, pesticide-free, non-gmo crops and uncaged, free-range, antibiotic and hormone-free cattle, swine and poultry. In other words, real Food in place of poisonous Doof.

This is an interesting article and I am sympathetic to the concerns about growth hormones, antibiotics and CAFOs. Maybe this will be some incentive for American producers to address these issues. We largely eat grass-fed, hormone free beef and there is an adjustment in cooking methods and flavor expectations but the results are well worth it, IMO.

I used to live in Europe. The differences in both poultry and cattle between the two countries was like day and night. The beef was much leaner and I had to adjust my cooking methods. However, when I came back to the USA, I was totally shocked how FAT Americans had become in just a few years. I do not BLAME the Europeans for not wanting chemical and hormone laced meat that has come from ill treated animals.

The real enemy that the English farmer faces is its own government and EU rules and regulations. I’m sympathetic to their concerns but the real crux of the issue is, people have been put in financial jeopardy by inflation and the public is not well educated on the issue on either side of the pond. There is a contingent of American farmers that raised beef on grass and grain finished. They are vertically integrated, raising their own grain. I’m finding that everyone is so willing to get their panties in a bunch and not waiting to see how things will shake out. Kvetching seems to be the order of the day

I like a lot of what you are doing. However, my understanding is that a great deal of synthetic fertilizers are used in the UK. I also understand that cattle in the UK are feed grain in the finishing process and that much of that grain is imported. We can never get to the truth and find appropriate solutions is we are do driven by our ideological position that we fudge the truth. And…making America healthy again is essential for our future.
