My family controls around 3500 acres of grasslands. At one time we farmed a 1000 acres of wheat. We have turned the farm land back to grass. Over the years we have scaled up in order to stay in business just as has happened in all other industries. I recognize that there are issues that must be addressed in production agriculture and am anxious to do that. I do feel the far greater concern currently is at the processing level. This is where poison is added to our food. I am also concerned that we may be getting rid of one tyrant only to be faced with another. The vast majority of farms/ranches are owned by individual families. Whatever we do to improve our production system needs to include those families, understand their needs, and respect their incredibly important role in our future. It would truly be a disaster to have us at war with each other.

Exactly! We don't want Big Ag to continue to dominate USDA, but neither is the plan to shift the entire country to organic -- unless that is what farmers and markets choose. If this devolved into regenerative v conventional, then paralysis (or worse) sets in and nothing good gets achieved.... I write about this in my book (and in my next book, Farm Hard or Starve). Thanks so much for chiming in!

I appreciate your reply. We are not organic but we are not conventional either. There is a lot that can be done short of being labeled organic. The secret is in identifying the most salient issues and working together to improve our food production system. Appreciate what you do.

So...I guess you all know by now that Trump chose Brooke Rollins. Is she Ms. Monsanto?

I didn't think so, but I have seen a few "industry insiders" chosen. Thanks for the response!
