I must apologize to my readers for my misinformation here. I wrote this weeks ago and scheduled it to run while I was away. Apparently John Rodgers just came out against "assault weapons," a deep disappointment if not betrayal of my support. I am praying that he is just chirping what he needs to sway the Scott Dem supporters and would act differently in office, and I don't think any real gun laws are on the horizon (and an assault ban would be blatantly unconstitutional under existing SCOTUS decisions). I must still vote for John, on balance -- he will fight against the taxes and climate scam, and is fortunately still standing tall on those issues.

From Vermont Daily Chronicle: "At our request, Lt. Gov. candidate John Rodgers called in to the Friday at Four podcast yesterday and clarified that while he does not support the possession or use of full auto 'assault' weapons in Vermont, he most emphatically does support the full right to own and use semi-automatic weapons, including the AR-15, of which he owns several and uses as a deer hunting firearm of choice because of its ease of use." Amen. I am relieved. I was sure John was a supporter of our Second Amendment and was very upset when it was suggested otherwise. Dave Zuckerman, on the other hand, would take them all while telling us how much he is helping us....

Your first paragraph alone was the most succinct and spot on for anyone to know the truth of what’s goin on here.

The saddest part to me (as a life long Vermonter) is how my state has been taken over by this ideology with nasty fraud’s like Zuckerberg leading their way. Disgusting.

The "climate change" obsession here in Vermont is particularly ludicrous. Vermont contributes a zero amount to "climate change". Our forests and land and people add to the health of this planet. I wish more Vermonters would wake up.

And we are one of the worst states in the nation for receiving sun..... The least efficient. And we use rooftop arrays, which are only half as cost-efficient as field arrays -- paid for by the poor. What is your objection? :) :)

A family member wanted to get solar panels. I told him the only way it makes any sense is if you have a battery and can completely go off the grid or use it if the grid goes down. The ones who benefit from solar panels are the utility companies, the manufacturers of solar products and instalers.. Such a virtuous scam.

I feel for you. A choice between a communist pretending to be a Democrat or a Democrat pretending to be a Republican. But in the end Democrat pretending to be a Republican meets the communist every single day. And once again you illustrate perfectly that there is nothing the Democrats will no lie about. Their only guiding principle is getting power at any cost no matter what.

The uniparty.... I do suspect John may be just conceding a non-issue so that he can gain office and fight on the front lines against the taxes and climate cult.... I do hope so.

The Progressives will lie, cheat and steal without any sign of remorse or regret. I often wonder if they really believe their own rhetoric--perhaps yes or perhaps no. The issues for them, it appears to me, is their disdain for working people (and their traditional culture) in combination with an obsessive need for power. There have always been people like that of course, but our Constitution was designed to place limitations on them. However, the Founders understood that the Constitution alone could not protect our freedoms without a populace that was educated and morally centered--both of which would depend upon a vibrant Christian influence within American society and culture. As a Texan who genuinely loves and appreciates New England, I will continue to pray for Vermont's people and election cycle.

You hit the nail precisely on the head, Mike. I stand here in Vermont against that growing black tide -- our battle is national and we need people here. But ultimately the very people hating God are the ones He wants us to try to warn and rescue from their own delusions -- whether, as you say, the believe them or not (some do, some don't -- I am fascinated by Dostoevsky's "The Possessed," where he ponders that question in his characters.

VP candidate Waltz misstated the 'current' First Amendment standard (intentional or otherwise) pushes transhumanism, which is what transgenderism is and now wants to abolish the electoral college so there will be no need to court smaller populations for votes - the mob rule will lead. I don't know what will wake people up. I've given up.

Good luck. We have a race in NC that is kind of depressing. Mark Robinson was doing quite well, as a conservative R, against a typical country club liberal whose name slips my mind. NC was a one-party state (Dem) for a long long time, all the while I was growing up, despite the (in)famous Jesse Helms and a few others, and the machine at state level & in the bureaucracy is still quite powerful. Don't let the R legislature fool you; we are ruled by Dems for the most part. Our current governor was a nightmare through the lockdown years, whereas if we had been able to get Dan Forrest (R) into office instead of him, we could have been another Florida. Personally I wonder if thumbs on the scale in 2020 were just enough to get the Dem governor into office in NC even though they missed by a hair for NC electoral votes at the top.

All of that to say that about a month ago, the establishment monolith dug up some old remarks made by Robinson, apparently despicable, which I did not investigate. It was a big brouhaha with Rs attacking Robinson and many calls for him to drop out, blah blah etc. Maybe they were true but I have my doubts, and I know his opponent promotes terrible policies and is the usual cookie-cutter federalized liberal that is gutting the soul of my state, if not begging to turn us into California.

I will vote for Robinson nonetheless. But we had so many Blue refugees move here during the lockdown years, and recently I saw a report of exceedingly high numbers of illegals the Feds have shipped here since 2020. Even though Mark Robinson has been on the ground in the mountains since about day 2 since Helene, my hopes are not high. I'll pray for your voters to make their best decisions and ask for prayers for North Carolina.

The vilification of Donald J Trump is growing old. Our political history is rife with examples of affluent, prestigious, learned individuals. Yet, Donald J. Trump, who vacillated between running as a democrat or a republican, is EVIL. Yes, America, the individual who worked in the real world, successfully ran a business, employed people, and built things is the enemy of the people. So say the political class who have never ventured into the real world, run anything, or done anything other than sign a book deal and taken their salary and generous benefits from the citizenry.

Progressives have been spending the taxpayers money like there is no tomorrow. (Hmmm.)

It is my sincere hope that legal voters here in Vermont and elsewhere, will finally take a breath, stand back, and ask themselves what their sense of financial and physical security was under 4 years of Donald J. Trump versus the Biden-Harris administration. We are told that Trump is a Nazi, who will crush and kill his opponents, just like he did from 2017-2021/ sarc. It seems as though the Zuckerman campaign is running on the same negative, divisive game plan. By all means, vilify your opponent when you have no pertinent, relatable policy for the voters...no one will notice!

On a side note, I drove through ritzy Shelburne today and noticed a lawn sign. It was a black background with rainbow wording, and said "Vote Like Your Daughter's Rights Depend On It. Kamala '24" I could not stop laughing. So, I guess that the dems/ progs are NOW okay with of gendering females?

You just can't make this stuff up.

It is all falling apart as was always inevitable. It is just a question of how long it takes the deluded to become "woke" to that reality. Now we see how the Nazis created hatred for Jews -- the Dems have done it against US patriots. Live free or die! They want to self-enslave and sicken themselves. Not for me and my house!

I dont understand the obsession with abortion. And when people specifically say they want to keep the right for their daughters, dont they realize they are saying "give my daughters the right to kill my grandchildren"? It's all so insane.

Most extremely insane for the viable children that Roe v Wade specifically held were second lives entitled to the Constitutional liberties extinguished with their breaths....

And once you have a baby, you really should be able to see the amazing miracle a baby is and never even have a thought to abort any baby. But women use it as birth control, even those who have children. It's so horrific. and it gets worse, as we know, when you talk about what they do with the remains of the dead babies. I feel like I live in a alternate universe.

I very much agree on all your points... as for Mr DZ...'take a look at yourself and remember when you point a finger at someone...take a look at how many are pointed back at you!" To think at one time many years ago I actually respected this guy! Not so anymore!!

Good article John. The egotistical Zuckerman lost any confidence with me when last time around he stated on WDEV radio that "who in their right mind would want to live in a rural area". This statement alone told me what his platform was. Too bad someone can't dig that conversation to the forefront today and replay it to all of Vermont!

It rates right up there with MacDonald saying that Vermonters should get another blanket to stay warm when discussing the clean heat standard!

And, least we forget how Clinton called all women deplorable if they didn't vote for her. That's the kind of people they are!!!

It's less than a month till the election. Unlike previous campaign seasons, it seems people are keeping their opinions about candidates to themselves. That reminds me of the big turnout for Trump in 2016. I have not seen many yard signs in my small town showing support for any of the candidates, other than a Harris-Walz sign in one yard. I think everyone is becoming more disgruntled with the radical impracticality of "Progressive" policies, but frankly , few Republicans have stood up against the Democrat machine, which likely compels obedience to the tyrants (donors class) who dispense money for only the policies and projects held dear by the WEF.

I hope John Rodgers can do well, but I have watched you and so many others be crushed by those heavy hands that don't give a damn about people. We are their subjects, slaves or serfs (choose your flavor).

There need to be.many more people saying NO to the tyranny. I hope it's not too late.
