I share Wendell Berry’s view on farm labor, if the price is right I’m sure you can find anyone to do anything.

I would say more than half of my jobs have not checked the social security number of my coworkers with Hispanic last names, but always asked for mine. People have to understand that businesses prefer to hire people without documents, because they know they can cheat them on labor laws and OSHA and that they will work for less. Why? Because they’re harder working? No! Because they are being exploited and taken advantage of. My ex wife’s family all came here without documents in 1992 and her mom was paid 25 cents an hour to clean houses as an indentured servant. This is VERY VERY common in modern day America. By doing “the right thing”, of allowing there to be an undocumented underclass which is easily exploited by their employers, we are not helping immigrants, we are offering them up to exploitation. With proper border controls and the IRS’s use of the pre-existing system of E-Verify, we can prevent employers from taking advantage of people with no good options. If we have rule of law we will have less child exploitation, less adult exploitation, and all people and jobs subject to the labor laws and protections of that state.

It is absolutely nonsensical to claim that undocumented immigrants are good for America. They are good for Tyson, Amazon, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Cargill and multinationals. If you cannot pay a person with a SSN then you don’t have a legitimate business and you need to formulate a new business plan.

People who say “no one will do that job”, are lying, they just don’t want to pay what it costs.

I agree completely. Although I would defend many dairy farms, who try to follow the law and offer housing as well as wages. The farmer I talked to was very upset that if his workers are not legal, they never collect the social security taxes they pay in -- "Who gets that money, and why don't they care?" he asked. The flood of migrant labor -- even if legal -- feeds the big corporations and meat processors you reference, reducing real wages for all in the name of "no one else wants to work."

Once again, you have to ask the question, why? Vermont is the test market for for these radical policies that make no sense to a commonsensical person. These progressives act under the guise of social injustice, but most likely are guided by their higher 'authorities' to undermine the social structure. To me, they are paid political operatives..........

Give it time. Perhaps the corrupt Marxist Mafia takeover of Vermont will one day answer to the 21ST Century Green Mountain Boys (and Gals)!

I think Vermont needs to follow Doge, and create its own.

I also think it's time to push for limits of time, both on how long someone has lived in the state and term limits of how long they can be elected in Congress and Senate. For too long the same people get elected over and over growing their arrogance and at the same time loosing, if they ever had it, an understanding of the culture and morality of the common man in this state.

In my opinion this is why the state is in the state its in!

I agree 100%! Convention of States wants to impose term limits and restrict the feds, but the Vermont liberals are claiming it's a conservative coup -- idiots who preserve their own cult ideology at the expense of liberty and justice for all. But that slimy worm is turning....

An asylum seeker drove into a crowd today in Germany injuring 28 people. The asylum seeker is from Afghanistan and our progressive tv in Canada only referred to it as an "attack", yet leaving out the offensive word, "terrorist". And of course, we know a white attacker would be labeled a terrorist and would be front-page news worldwide. But, here we are.

I saw that story last night. So tragic. Evil is a very real thing, in the hearts of terrorists and in the hearts of propagandists. I am continually haunted by the knowledge that many in the Western media and government invoke their own destruction, and that of their own children and grandchildren as if possessed by some demonic force that blinds them to truth and order.
