When someone or a book makes a statment like 'When we're born people make a guess about our gender...', it is no longer a quesiton of exposure vs indoctrination...it is actual exposure TO indoctrination. We can no longer read or write or definitively say that 2 + 2 = 4. This is a problem.
From what I've seen over three generations is that teachers are not allowed to teach. This is an administration problem. Parents should not be running the classroom, but they definitely need to be talking with teachers, and they (broad brush "they") are vital, teachers, parents, students. School boards unfortunately have been too often taken over by politics of all stripes. I've been involved for years with charter startups (local!) where there are choices if your public school administration of your school district (sometimes giant districts where a student can become just a number). Don't try to put your own personal ideology upon a large school district, there are literally 100 + ideologies and trying to enforce your own will become angry chaos. Form a charter or find one. p.s. the supreme court will not solve this, nor will politics divided. My grandfather went to a one room schoolhouse in Springfield, from there to U. of VT. and beyond, a highly diverse and well educated man. Had great teachers including his mother. Get back to the basics of learning. Then if you want to enforce or find your own take on it as a parent, and you do have that right, go for it. But don't expect a public school to carry your banner. Teachers teach, parents teach, children learn. There are 100+ alternatives, for your children find one that works. That's your role, support your children with dedication and common sense first. Run for office or the school board (which by the way takes time away from your child and your children) if you wish . But be a parent first.

How long are we, as a nation, going to pretend that erroneous ideas and theories are even remotely worthy of instruction in the classroom?
Thank you for keeping us updated on this terribly crucial matter!!!!!
