So John, this is obviously a person who's English is not their first language and that should have been a clue to your readers that it was a scam.

Probably spell check. Mine is always changing were to we’re. It even tried to that time, but I was expecting it, so I caught it.

Thanks, John. I sent the screenshot to you. I always notify people if I suspect a scam using their name. Hey, it means you’re important enough that the scammers think they can monetize from your name! What a way to end 2025!

Substack is not secure. Someone took over a Dr's account, to which I had subscribed, then somehow proceeded to subscribe me to his account many times for thousands of dollars, all over just a few days time. I found it had happened to others and as in my case, zero response from substack. The scammer impersonated someone but got access to my cc #. So there is an issue with Stripe and SS not being secure. I don't know how they think we will be able to live in an all digital world when scammers are multiplying faster than security.

Anyone who is reading your substack isn’t going to fall for something like that. :)

I got it too and realized it wasn’t legitimate and deleted it.

No worries. I believe you. Besides our 4th Amendment privacy rights are practically nonexistent anymore, especially with Apple digital ID, google everything, and all phone, text, email, medical, Safari, communication, searches and financial purchases recorded and stored, and sold.

The sample “investment opportunity”you referenced is by a poor writer who doesn’t proofread or check capitalization. Your subscribers know that drivel wouldn’t even be a draft of yours.

Have a blessed 2026.

I also received one of these solicitations this morning. This one is obviously bogus, but I'm sure that there are plenty of more articulate and authentic-seeming spambags that are going to the bank with $$ belonging to unsuspecting innocents.

John I would know that it wasn't you by the grammar and typos.

Our parish priest warned us there were solicitations for money from someone pretending to be him. Crooks never rest
