At the heart of these double standards is the idea that the haves can pay to 'offset' their carbon consumption, while the have-nots can't. However, the carbon offset industry is a smokescreen that receives payment for actions that nature would also complete if it weren't paid for. Moreover, the carbon offsetting industry endangers our food supply chain. it thereby amounts to a two-pronged taxation of the poor by the wealthy: food becomes more expensive due to reduced supply, as well as due to bogus 'carbon offsets' paid by the producers. We must work with lawmakers to end carbon offsetting.

Worse, the "renewables industry" receives payment to pollute with toxins on steroids in the name of sparing carbon. It is insanely stupid, even vulgar.
I guess I was citing a moderate example... totally correct that carbon offsets also flow in the direction of giant wind blades who scatter into millions of shards that end up on the Nantucket shore.
:) And for carbon "sequestration" machines that suck the stuff from the air. No chemical pollution or energy usage in their manufacture, maintenance, and operation, right?
Vermont Dairy farmers used to distribute milk locally in reusable glass and steel containers. The containers were shipped back to the dairy for reuse or cleaned at home and brought for a refill when needed. It's not "capitalism" that has caused the problems today, but lack of choice, often caused by government regulation (those containers became a liability). What choice do we have?
Consumerism, via ease of use and demand on people's time (required to pay ever higher taxes), is another problematic issue. But I believe with good education and accessible options, people will make wise choices.
I live on the farm where the milk cans were stored in a gravity-fed, cold water bath from a spring. Both the spring box and little milkhouse remain.....
Don't forget the jet fuel that spills out over us everyday, which has coal ash in it that can cause cancer and also damages the ozone layer! I don't hear the EPA or the Go Green people talk about that!
I call it tailpipe environmentalism with Marie Antoinette-type figures extolling "let them eat cake" sentiments. (According to AI, she didn't say cake; she possibly referred to brioche, which is a bread made with many of the same ingredients as cake. AI will not make us smarter.) I really believe, from a Judeo-Christian system, that these people are trying to will their existence and meaning from 'I think therefore I am.' They keep thinking, thinking, thinking in the hopes that some real and lasting will pop up. If only they switched it to I am; therefore, I think they might get somewhere.
Not for me, but for thee.

None whatsoever. The only polluting machines are the ones nature designed to produce meat and cheese.
lol.....
