I invite my readers to read and sign a letter of support for cleaner food. One of the most profitable aspects of modern agriculture and food production is the chemicals, especially glyphosate, or Roundup, used in farming. In many ways, federal agricultural subsidies eventually “trickle down” not to the farmers who grow our food on slim margins but to the major chemical companies who reap fat profits on the taxpayer tab. Meanwhile, glyphosate residues, pesticides, and herbicides trickle down into our water supplies, our soils, and our children’s school lunches.
Americans must subsidize farming that uses fewer, not more, of these dubious, insufficiently tested chemicals. Bayer and other large chemical manufacturers are pushing for laws that will immunize them from legal liability even where overwhelming evidence proves people are injured or killed by their products. At the same time, the Big, Beautiful Bill seeks to divert more than $30 billion to subsidize GMO crops that are the most dependent on these chemical applications.
Both of these initiatives must be halted in their tracks if we are to Make America Healthy (or Great) Again. The letter to congressional leaders is titled:
Request for MAHA Caucus Leadership on Federal Preemption and Chemical Liability Shields & Support for Organic & Regenerative Agriculture
Please read the letter and consider signing on here. You don’t have to be a farmer or rocket scientist to raise your voice in concern. If the federal government does not reverse the corporate capture or our regulatory agencies and US Congress, there is no MAHA!
Thank you for supporting this effort! Together we are making a difference.
I am a mid size rancher with 700-800 cattle on hand at all times. We use very little round up today but we do use herbicides. We have tried to stop but had to go back to them. I am not for exempting manufacturers from liability. However, I have not seen a plan for moving forward once round up and herbicides are no longer available. I own 25 of Kit Pharo’s bulls and have read all the books published buy the Stockman Grass Farmer. If this problem is ever going to be solved it won’t happen by encouraging the discontinued use of the chemical products. It will require a plan to move from present(wide spread use) to a future where 8 billion people can be feed without their use and a path to survival for Ag producers. For this reason my farming/ranching neighbors will not support what you, Malone, Nass and others are pushing. As things currently stand you guys threaten their already challenged livelihood. And mine too, as far as that goes.
