Dear Sir,

You could easily be talking about California, a state where I have lived for 27 years.

I wouldn’t know where to begin but suffice it to say that your state, CA and Massachusetts stand out to me as a combination of failed policies and corruption that have led to the disastrous consequences I am forced to endure daily.

Corruption of such beauty and magnificence. Criminal!

Not surprising, having lived in Vermont for four years. More wealth redistribution: wealthier towns (like Woodstock) have buried electrical lines. Woodstock is far less likely to endure power outages in bad weather when falling trees take down above-ground power lines in poorer towns.

Unrelated aside, but fun trip down Vermont memory lane. I remember when fiscally-conservative, transsexual Republican graduate of Vermont Law School ran against Bernie Sanders for senate and got 30% of the vote, shortly after she married the junior secretary of the VLS dean. Because the VT Supreme Court refused to change Karen’s birth certificate to female when it amended her first name (from Charles) after sexual reassignment surgery, Karen also used her male birth certificate to achieve the FIRST LEGAL gay marriage in America, back in 1998 or so. Had that (first legal gay marriage) been part of her conservative platform, she might have beaten Bernie the commie by getting the “progressive” vote!🤠(RIP KAREN.)

Pretty much the same here in Maine where 75% of the landmass is ruled by the 20% in extreme Southern Maine (Northern Massahampshire).

An astute local state rep once asked the legislature "Why is the clearing of 20 acres for a mini-mall OK in Southern Maine, but a 20 acre clearcut is an eyesore in Northern Maine".

When something drains the progressives' pocketbooks, then you hear about it! They live a double standard here. They ride the high horse but when it comes to something that is truly 'progressive' in the sense of the word and relating to human beings, you don't hear anything. As I have said before, I love living here for the good people, the geography and the quietness.... The politics are in the toilet and then move to the sewer!!!

John,

As I mentioned in a previous comment on something similar.... and I apologize for the redundancy.... but this is exactly why I left the state. My family had been in VT since the early 1800's, but there was no way we were staying and exposing our kids to this libtard ridiculousness. Bernie Sanders, Becca Balint, Peter Welch..... all just pure dumbass shitbags. Just like every libtard that comes along. Anyway.... I digress.

We are out of VT now. In our new home, my taxes are less than a 1/4 of what they were proposed to be in VT by next year! So I am just going to sit back and watch it implode. Like the other states mentioned in the comments, CA, MA, NY, etc.... Grab the popcorn and get ready to watch. Oh yea, and the first "Gov't run, free grocery store" is going to open in NY within the year!! The only thing I hope is that conservatives don't get lazy and allow this shit to keep spreading.

Yes, many Vermonters flee to more sane jurisdictions. I understand why, but we keep trying to stick it out. Perhaps it will take utter fiscal collapse before Vermonters finally say enough is enough. I pray we can avert that path....
