I have not used Substack to sell farm produce, but we are about to slaughter yearling lambs, and we have a few left if anyone is interested.
All of our lambs were born here of our stock, briefly raised on organic grain before being fed a diet of grass only. We breed for late spring as it is easier on the animals at freshening, and then winter them for one year so they get up to size. These animals are in excellent shape, finished on our best pastures, and slaughtered to customer specifications. They should weigh between 60-70 pounds.
For the first time we are using a USDA slaughterhouse because my pick-up truck is not road legal and because we have so many lambs. This means these lambs can legally be sold out of state if you are able to arrange delivery with us.
Lambs are $8.50/ pound hanging weight, plus processing fees based on cutting instructions, and a $10 trucking fee.
Please email me directly if you are interested, and alert others you know who may want a lamb. Thank you so much for supporting our local, regenerative Vermont farm!
If we were still in Vermont, we'd get one a year from you John. For anyone on the fence -- don't hesitate - it's absolutely the best lamb we've ever had.
