Granite is the Rock of Ages

A reflection on that massive deposit of granite that lurks beneath Barre City.

People often do not realize the treasures in their own communities: locals often do not visit the popular tourist sites in their own backyards. In Vermont, this is true of the Rock of Ages granite facility, and the famous granite quarry upon which the City of Barre is essentially constructed.
